The Picnic & Hamper Co. has been established for 12 years. We are a small family run business based in West Sussex that specialises in handmade artisan cooking.
All of our goodies are cooked in our commercial kitchen in Chichester: the tarts and cakes, the brownies and biscuits and the Sussex Cheese Finnies... ah, the finnies! Savouries and sweet, our range includes Arancini, Tortilla and Puffins.
We sell at farmers markets, fairs and shows across West Sussex and Hampshire where we have built a loyal and regular customer following. Our artisan cooking company grew from local demand and we now supply specialist shops and cafés throughout Sussex, Hampshire and around the edges with our unique and delicious produce.
We are very proud of our products, which are all handmade in small batches with a pile of love and great quality, locally sourced ingredients. We believe our products are very special and, more importantly, so do our customers!

Our dedicated team ensures a continuity of quality. One primary criteria for our Head Artisan Cook, Penny Locke, is "seasonality"... she believes that some things are just much better when they are only available for a limited time.
We sell our handmade produce through farmers markets, shops and fairs but we can also supply in larger quantities, just ask for a trade price list!
Each of our cakes, biscuits and tarts can be frozen and we can packaged them upon request, if required.
Our products are all suitable for vegetarians and many are dairy or gluten free too!

Handmade exclusively by Picnic & Hamper Co. Generally served with soups, salads or cheese - they are a fantastic gluten free alternative to bread.
Sussex Cheese Finnies are savoury biscuits which are made to our own special recipe using the Traditional Cheese Dairy “Olde Sussex” award winning farmhouse cheese.
Finnies are delicious and satisfying as a snack or as a "pick me up" while walking or cycling. Our customers use them to accompany formal meals or as a vehicle for piles of cream cheese and fruits. Anything works!
Finnies have a shelf life of 3 months - as if they would last that long!

Sweet things... Our cakes are made to share - or eat all on your own! The small loaf cake is the perfect size for either, it's designed to be eaten in one sitting, whether you do that yourself or with some help we'll leave at your discretion.
Our sweet thing range includes... Small loaf cakes: Orange & Almond (Dairy Free), Gingerbread, Apple & Almond (Gluten Free), Plum Torte, Cocounut & Lime and Banana & Blueberry (Dairy Free). Sweet tarts: Cherry & Almond, Apricot & Almond and Treacle Tart. Fruity Brioche, Little Sicilian Lemon Cake (Gluten Free), Hazelnut Shortbread, Super Nutty Nut Brittle, Granola Bars and Pecan Brownies. YUM!
All of our cakes, biscuits and bars, sweet and savoury tarts can be frozen and can even, on request, be packaged. Orders can be collected or we can arrange delivery for a small charge.

Savoury things... eat hot or cold, any time!
Savoury tarts in a handmade crisp pastry case filled with vegetables and/or cheese with a savoury custard. Varities change to showcase seasonal produce or even local demand but regular flavour combos are Red Onion & Goats Cheese, Brie & Roasted Tomato, Cheddar & Leek and Cheddar & Asparagus. Available in 2 sizes: 11cm Individual or 28cm Family & Friends (serves 10-12).
Veggie Tortilla (Gluten Free): A layered vegetable tortilla of sweet potato, rocket, spring onion, cheddar and sweet peppers, which looks beautiful when sliced. Great for light lunches.
Arancini (Gluten Free): Little risotto rice balls with pesto, rocket, spring onion and cheddar - they pack a flavoursome punch. Use as a starter or part of a main meal.
Frittata: Lovely mix of pasta, rocket and spring onion or chessar, rocket and sundries tomato, the perfect slice for a summer lunch (serves 10-12).
